Neurology

Neurology is a branch of medicine dealing with disorders of the nervous system. Neurology deals with the diagnosis and treatment of all categories of conditions and disease involving the central and peripheral nervous systems (brain, spine and nerves) Neurological disorders can have a debilitating effect on an individual, causing loss of memory or co-ordination problems affecting a person’s ability to perform day-to-day activities. Medication, physical therapy, surgery, and re-habilitation are some forms of treatment avail-able. Non-invasive imaging procedures are used to diagnose neurological disorders. Some of these are coronary angiography, ultrasound and scans such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT) and positron emis-sion tomography (PET).
