‘I enjoy going to work everyday and meeting women from all walks of life. From listening, understanding and talking through various breast issues, to sharing a patient’s relief that a breast lump isn’t cancer. Or on the flip side, sitting down with a patient who has to face up to a cancer diagnosis, journeying through the surgery, countless medical reviews, repeated advice (again and again) for breast self examinations, scrutinizing mammograms and ultrasound images and the many life chats and sharings that naturally come along with these. I count it my blessing and privilege to have been there and being a part of it.’

She embarked on her medical training with the National University of Singapore in 1995 followed by residency training in General Surgery at Tan Tock Seng Hospital. This subsequently led to Fellowship accreditation in General Surgery by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, UK.

Upon completion of fellowship training in breast surgery, she was awarded the Health Manpower Development Plan scholarship by the Ministry of Health to further hone her clinical skills in breast oncoplastic surgery at the Marien Hospital in Duesseldorf, Germany. There she worked alongside Prof Audretsch Werner, an international leader in breast oncoplastic surgery.
