About Dr. Lai Mun LOOI
Dr Looi Lai Mun is currently a Consultant Respiratory Physician and Intensivist at LM Lung Specialist Clinic, Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital and Specialist Centre.
Dr Looi obtained her medical degree from University of Melbourne, Australia. She subsequent completed her internal medicine training and obtained her MRCP. She continued her specialist training in Respiratory Medicine and Intensive Care Medicine and was accredited by Specialist Accreditation Board as a specialist in Respiratory Medicine and Intensive Care Medicine. She also obtained her fellowship from American College of Chest Physician.
She has special interest in intensive care, non-invasive ventilation, airway disease, lung cancer, Tuberculosis and pneumonia. She was awarded a Health Manpower Development Award to further her fellowship in Critical Care Medicine in Netherlands.
Prior to this, she was a consultant at Department of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, Tan Tock Seng Hospital. She was also the Deputy Director of Home Ventilation and Respiratory Support System (HVRSS) as well as Co- Director of Coronary Care Unit (CCU) in Tan Tock Seng Hospital.
She was involved in the care of patients with general medical diseases as well as with respiratory diseases. She also provided her management to critically ill patient in both Medical and Surgical Intensive Care Unit in Tan Tock Seng Hospital as well as from John Hopkins Singapore International Medical Centre. She was awarded TTSH Excellent Service Award in 2009.
Dr Looi is experienced in treating all general respiratory cases, including chronic cough and breathlessness, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, pneumonia and Tuberculosis, lung cancer, haemoptysis (coughing out blood), pleural disease, respiratory failure, bronchoscopy, chronic lung disease such as interstitial lung disease and sleep disorders. She has also presented frequently in international conference.
Dr Looi has lectured frequently and was a clinical tutor for medical students, doctors and nurses. She was appointed as Clinical Senior Lecturer with Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. She is also an instructor for Advanced Cardiac Life Support Course (ACLS) and Basic Assessment and Support in Intensive Care Course (BASIC).
