About Dr Errol CHAN
Dr Errol Chan is the Medical Director and Senior Consultant Ophthalmologist at Ascend Eye Clinic.
He graduated with MBBS and MMed (Ophthalmology) from the National University of Singapore (NUS), and trained in Ophthalmology at the National University Health System (NUHS). He further honed his expertise with fellowships in Vitreoretinal Surgery, Medical Retina, and Uveitis at McGill University, Canada, and Moorfields Eye Hospital London, UK. He has been awarded a fellowship in ophthalmology at the Royal Colleges of the UK, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Canada, as well as the Academy of Medicine in Singapore.
Dr Chan is an ophthalmologist specialising in cataract, vitreoretinal and refractive surgery. He is highly experienced in performing standard and femtosecond laser-assisted (bladeless) procedures. He manages complex and high-risk cataract cases, in addition to lens exchange, secondary lens implants, and combined cataract surgery with glaucoma or retinal procedures. He offers the options of multifocal, extended range and monovision lens implants for patients seeking spectacle independence.
As a vitreoretinal surgeon, he treats retinal tears, detachments, macular holes, epiretinal membranes, traumatic eye injury and diabetic retinopathy. He also manages age-related macular degeneration and diabetic eye disease with advanced therapeutics like anti-VEGF injections and photodynamic therapy. Dr Chan also consults for glaucoma (including surgery), refractive surgery (LASIK/ICL), pterygium surgery, dry eye management, and paediatric myopia control.
Dr Chan’s extensive experience includes his time as a Consultant Ophthalmologist in the UK NHS, Visiting Consultant at NUHS, Clinical Lecturer at NUS, and Adjunct Research Fellow at SERI. He has spoken at international ophthalmology conferences and authored over 40 journal and textbook articles.
